Rare Relics OK
Gwen is a premier aggressive champion capable of unparalleled speed and sustain. Her ability to drain the enemy Nexus provides immense safety, while her Hallowed mechanic ensures her damage scales rapidly.
First Turn Execution
I cost 1 less for each ally in play. Play: Deal 3 to all other allies.
Scout. Round End: Shuffle me into your deck.
All your spells and skills deal 1 extra damage.
Strategy
This optimal setup leverages her 6-star constellation to end games immediately. Disciple of Shadows reduces her cost and levels her up on Turn 1 by consuming the Ghastly Bands. Galeforce provides a Scout attack, allowing her to strike twice with massive Hallowed buffs, while Luden's Tempest amplifies her skill damage and Nexus healing.
Skill Amplification
When I level up, Rally.
All your spells and skills deal 1 extra damage.
All your spells and skills deal 1 extra damage.
Strategy
For accounts without 6-star upgrades, this build maximizes her burst potential. Stacking Luden's Tempest significantly increases the damage and healing of her Snip Snip skill. Crownguard Inheritance provides a Rally upon leveling up, allowing for a devastating second attack phase in the same round.
Protected Sustain
When I level up, Rally.
All your spells and skills deal 1 extra damage.
Power: When you summon an ally, grant it SpellShield.
Strategy
Gwen is highly vulnerable to enemy removal spells. Black Shield ensures she survives her initial deployment. Once stabilized, she can utilize her amplified skill damage and Rally effect to swing the board state and restore the Nexus to full health.
Accessible Aggression
When I level up, Rally.
All your spells and skills deal 1 extra damage.
Allies have Overwhelm.
Strategy
Before unlocking her 4-star upgrade, Gwen lacks innate Overwhelm, making her susceptible to small blockers. Troll King's Crown solves this issue, ensuring her massive Hallowed stats translate directly into Nexus damage.
Other Relic Options
Power: Allies have Overwhelm, and if they have a subtype, +1|+1.
Start adventures with +1 Revive. Last Breath: If it's the first time I've been slain this game, revive me with 1 Health.
Power: Allies that cost 1 or less have Overwhelm, Quick Attack, and Fury.
+1|+0. While I'm attacking, I can't take damage or die.
+2|+0. Support: If my supported ally is a follower, grant it Ephemeral and summon an exact copy of it attacking.
The Beast Within is an excellent alternative to Troll King's Crown for granting Overwhelm before reaching her 4-star upgrade. Guardian Angel provides a safety net against removal and allows for aggressive trades. Spirit of the Buhru synergizes well with her 6-star power by granting Fury and Overwhelm to her 1-cost Ghastly Bands, though it loses some value once her 4-star upgrade is unlocked. Death's Foil allows her to attack safely into massive enemy units. Spectral Scissors, while thematically appropriate, is often unnecessary as her base kit provides sufficient damage without needing to duplicate units.
Constellation
Gwen's constellation upgrades transform her from a strong mid-game stabilizer into an unparalleled speedrunner. While she functions perfectly well at 3 stars, her higher-tier upgrades drastically accelerate her win condition.

Snippets of Song
Round Start: If you don't have the attack token, summon a Ghastly Band.
Needlework
+1 Starting Mana. When your leftmost attacker gains power from Hallowed, so does the attacker to its right.
Snippets of Song II
Round Start: Summon a Ghastly Band.
Crush
Allies have Overwhelm.Review
This is a massive power spike. Granting Overwhelm ensures her Hallowed buffs are never wasted on small blockers, freeing up a relic slot that would otherwise be dedicated to Troll King's Crown or The Beast Within.
Manaflow
Game Start: Get a mana gem.Review
The additional starting mana accelerates her deployment, allowing her to hit the board and begin draining the enemy Nexus a round earlier.
Last Dance
Game Start: Summon 4 Ghastly Bands and Rally.Review
Players disagree about the overall necessity of this upgrade. Some consider the game-start Rally redundant if the player already has the attack token. While others view the immediate generation of Ghastly Bands as a critical enabler for Turn 1 victories, especially when paired with specific relics that capitalize on early board presence.
Gameplay Tips
- Optimal Attack Positioning
Always place Gwen in the second attacking slot (from the left). The Hallowed mechanic buffs the first attacker, but Gwen's innate ability also absorbs stats. Placing her second ensures she receives the maximum possible stat amplification from the Ghastly Bands striking first.
- Patience and Passing
Gwen is highly susceptible to fast-speed removal spells. When deploying her, it is often optimal to pass the turn and allow the opponent to spend their mana first. Dropping her onto the board when the opponent has exhausted their resources guarantees she can attack safely.
- Navigating Stuns and Recalls
Adventures featuring heavy stun or recall mechanics severely counter Gwen's strategy. These effects neutralize her ephemeral Ghastly Bands before they can strike, denying her Hallowed scaling. Prioritize drafting spellshield or control tools when facing these regions.
- Maximizing Nexus Health
Gwen functions as a premier healing engine. Even if lethal damage is available on the board, it is often strategically correct to attack with Gwen to fully restore the Nexus health before ending the encounter, ensuring maximum safety for subsequent battles.
