Low Investment
Rare Relics OK
Gwen is a premier aggressive champion capable of unparalleled speed and sustain. Her ability to drain the enemy Nexus provides immense safety, while her Hallowed mechanic ensures her damage scales rapidly.
First Turn Execution
I cost 1 less for each ally in play. Play: Deal 3 to all other allies.
Scout. Round End: Shuffle me into your deck.
All of your spells and skills deal 1 extra damage.
Strategy
At 6 stars, this build enables consistent Turn 1 victories. Disciple of Shadows reduces Gwen's cost to zero by consuming the Ghastly Bands summoned at game start, instantly leveling her up and generating massive Hallowed stacks.
Galeforce provides a Scout attack, allowing her to strike twice with these amplified stats. Luden's Tempest increases the damage and healing of her Snip Snip skill, ensuring the enemy Nexus is destroyed before the opponent can react.
Infinite Printing
Zoe Specialized
I cost 1 less for each ally in play. Play: Deal 3 to all other allies.
Evolve. When ANY unit dies, grant me its keywords.
Start adventures with +1 Revive. Last Breath: If it's the first time I've been slain this game, revive me with 1 Health.
Strategy
This build excels in the 10-star Zoe adventure by leveraging a strategy that creates multiple copies of Gwen. Disciple of Shadows reduces her cost for early deployment and clears the board to trigger death effects.
Voidborne Carapace is crucial for acquiring beneficial keywords from fallen units, particularly Deathless and Lifesteal. When combined with Guardian Angel, the Deathless keyword allows Gwen to revive repeatedly, creating numerous copies on the board and rapidly escalating her Hallowed stacks and drain damage.
3-Star Board Control
When I'm summoned, I strike the weakest enemy.
All of your spells and skills deal 1 extra damage.
When I level up, Rally.
Strategy
For accounts without Epic relics or 6-star upgrades, this build provides excellent board control and burst damage. Stalker's Blade allows Gwen to strike the weakest enemy upon summon, clearing early threats and safely building Hallowed stacks.
Luden's Tempest amplifies her skill damage, while Crownguard Inheritance grants a Rally upon leveling up. This combination enables powerful multi-attack turns, allowing Gwen to push for lethal damage immediately after reaching her leveled form.
Protected Sustain
When I level up, Rally.
All of your spells and skills deal 1 extra damage.
Power: When you summon an ally, grant it SpellShield.
Strategy
Gwen is highly vulnerable to enemy removal spells, which can completely derail her game plan. Black Shield ensures she survives her initial deployment by providing a SpellShield.
Once stabilized on the board, she can utilize her amplified skill damage from Luden's Tempest and the Rally effect from Crownguard Inheritance to swing the board state, clear enemy units, and restore the Nexus to full health.
Deathless Recursion
+2|+0 and Deathless. Power: When an ally dies, deal 1 to the enemy Nexus.
Start adventures with +1 Revive. Last Breath: If it's the first time I've been slain this game, revive me with 1 Health.
I cost 1 less for each ally in play. Play: Deal 3 to all other allies.
Strategy
This combination makes Gwen highly resilient through Deathless and revive effects. Price of Retribution provides the Deathless keyword and deals Nexus damage whenever an ally dies, which synergizes perfectly with her ephemeral Hallowed units.
Guardian Angel ensures she revives, allowing players to deliberately sacrifice her using spells like Glimpse Beyond or her champion spell. This triggers her Hallowed synergy repeatedly, creating overwhelming board advantage and multiple Gwen copies.
Other Relic Options
Power: Allies have Overwhelm, and if they have a subtype, +1|+1.
Power: Allies that cost 1 or less have Overwhelm, Quick Attack, and Fury.
+1|+0. While I'm attacking, I can't take damage or die.
Play: Deal 3 to all other units.
+200 Starting Gold. Power: Allies have +1|+1 for every 12 cards in your deck past 18 at game start.
The Beast Within is an excellent alternative for granting Overwhelm before reaching her 4-star upgrade. Spirit of the Buhru synergizes well with her 6-star power by granting Fury and Overwhelm to her 1-cost Ghastly Bands, though it loses some value once her 4-star upgrade is unlocked. Death's Foil allows her to attack safely into massive enemy units. Wicked Harvest deals 3 damage to all other units on play, quickly empowering Gwen's Hallowed effect by enabling allied unit deaths and contributing to her level-up condition. Stacked Deck is utilized in specific high-roll strategies to massively buff Ephemeral units for open-attack victories.
Constellation
Gwen's constellation upgrades transform her from a strong mid-game stabilizer into an unparalleled speedrunner. While she functions perfectly well at 3 stars, her higher-tier upgrades drastically accelerate her win condition.

Snippets of Song
Round Start: If you don't have the attack token, summon a Ghastly Band.
Needlework
+1 Starting Mana. When your leftmost attacker gains power from Hallowed, so does the attacker to its right.
Snippets of Song II
Round Start: Summon a Ghastly Band.Review
Provides additional Hallowed generation. Placing Gwen in the second attacking slot maximizes this benefit, allowing her to double-dip on the Hallowed stats.
Crush
Allies have Overwhelm.Review
Grants Overwhelm to Gwen, which is a massive power spike that frees up a relic slot previously dedicated to Overwhelm relics. It also grants Double Attack to the support champion. Players disagree about this secondary effect; some consider it a strong combat trick, while others note it dilutes the item pool by preventing Double Attack items from appearing in Champion Nodes.
Manaflow
Game Start: Get a mana gem.Review
Provides a crucial mana gem, allowing Gwen to be deployed earlier to stabilize the board and begin accumulating Hallowed triggers.
Last Dance
Game Start: Summon 4 Gastly Bands and Rally.Review
Summons Ghastly Bands and Rallies at Game Start. When combined with Disciple of Shadows, this enables consistent Turn 1 execution by instantly leveling Gwen and providing massive Hallowed stacks. Without Disciple of Shadows, the Rally effect can sometimes feel redundant in encounters that already grant the attack token.
Gameplay Tips
- Optimal Attack Positioning
Always place Gwen in the second attacking slot (from the left). The Hallowed mechanic buffs the first attacker, but Gwen's innate ability also absorbs stats. Placing her second ensures she receives the maximum possible stat amplification from the Ghastly Bands striking first.
- Patience and Passing
Gwen is highly susceptible to fast-speed removal spells. When deploying her, it is often optimal to pass the turn and allow the opponent to spend their mana first. Dropping her onto the board when the opponent has exhausted their resources guarantees she can attack safely.
- Navigating Stuns and Recalls
Adventures featuring heavy stun or recall mechanics (such as the Yasuo encounter) severely counter Gwen's strategy. These effects neutralize her ephemeral Ghastly Bands before they can strike, denying her Hallowed scaling. Prioritize drafting spellshield or control tools when facing these regions.
- Maximizing Nexus Health
Gwen functions as a premier healing engine. Even if lethal damage is available on the board, it is often strategically correct to attack with Gwen to fully restore the Nexus health before ending the encounter, ensuring maximum safety for subsequent battles.
- Drafting Support Champions
Selecting low-cost support champions (e.g., 1-cost) restricts the item pool to effect-only items, increasing the probability of finding highly synergistic upgrades for Gwen's deck.
