Rare Relics OK
Gwen is a premier aggressive champion capable of unparalleled speed and sustain. Especially with her c6 power, she can win the game immediately on game start. However, she is vulnerable to disruption and lacks defensive tools if she fails to win on turn 1.
First Turn Execution (C6)
Consumes her free Ghastly Bands from C6 to make Gwen free to play.
Gives Gwen a second attack. Gwen shuffles herself into deck afterwards, but you can often win on turn 1.
Gives all her skills +1 damage. Gwen's leveled up effect 'drains 1 from the enemy nexus for each 2 power' she has, and Luden's doubles that damage from 1 to 2.
Strategy
At 6 stars, this build enables consistent Turn 1 victories. Play Gwen, consuming her free units, leveling her up in the process. Then attack twice with Gwen and hope the enemy nexus is dead. Even though Gwen is vulnerable to spells, do not open pass beacuse the AI sees Gwen's four ephemeral units and is likely to pass back, meaning you don't get to attack at all.
Infinite Printing
Zoe Specialized
Reduces her cost, enabling earlier plays.
Guardian Angel gives Gwen deathless, and Voidborne takes it back on revive. This combo ensures Gwen always revives on death.
Grants Deathless for the Voidborne + Deathless combo.
Strategy
This build excels in the 10-star Zoe adventure by leveraging a strategy that creates multiple copies of Gwen. Disciple of Shadows reduces her cost for early deployment and clears the board to trigger death effects.
Voidborne Carapace is crucial for acquiring beneficial keywords from fallen units, particularly Deathless and Lifesteal. When combined with Guardian Angel, the Deathless keyword allows Gwen to revive repeatedly, creating numerous copies on the board and rapidly escalating her Hallowed stacks and drain damage.
3-Star Board Control
Helps Gwen level up by dealing some damage when summoned.
Doubles the damage of Gwen's level-up drain skill.
Gives Gwen a second attack as she levels up.
Strategy
For accounts without Epic relics or 6-star upgrades, this build provides excellent board control and burst damage. Stalker's Blade allows Gwen to strike the weakest enemy upon summon, clearing early threats and safely building Hallowed stacks.
Luden's Tempest amplifies her skill damage, while Crownguard Inheritance grants a Rally upon leveling up. This combination enables powerful multi-attack turns, allowing Gwen to push for lethal damage immediately after reaching her leveled form.
Other Relic Options
A crucial relic for c3 gwen, since she heavily depends on overwhelm. She gets overwhelm from her c4, so this relic becomes redundant then.
Power: Allies that cost 1 or less have Overwhelm, Quick Attack, and Fury. This helps boost Gwen's Ghastly Bands.
Helps ensure Gwen doesn't die to large enemy blockers, but this really shines if you manage to find some way to summon an ephemeral Gwen such as a shadow totem item.
A budget version of disciple of shadows, this helps Gwen level up.
Constellation
Gwen's constellation upgrades transform her from a strong mid-game stabilizer into an unparalleled speedrunner. While she functions perfectly well at 3 stars, her higher-tier upgrades drastically accelerate her win condition.

Snippets of Song
Round Start: If you don't have the attack token, summon a Ghastly Band.
Needlework
+1 Starting Mana. When your leftmost attacker gains power from Hallowed, so does the attacker to its right.
Snippets of Song II
Round Start: Summon a Ghastly Band.Review
Provides additional Hallowed generation. Placing Gwen in the second attacking slot maximizes this benefit, allowing her to double-dip on the Hallowed stats.
Crush
Allies have Overwhelm.Review
Grants Overwhelm to Gwen, which frees up a relic slot previously dedicated to Overwhelm relics.
Manaflow
Game Start: Get a mana gem.
Last Dance
Game Start: Summon 4 Gastly Bands and Rally.Review
Summons Ghastly Bands and Rallies at Game Start. When combined with Disciple of Shadows, this enables consistent Turn 1 execution by instantly leveling Gwen and providing massive Hallowed stacks. Without Disciple of Shadows, the Rally effect can sometimes feel redundant in encounters that already grant the attack token.
Gameplay Tips
- Optimal Attack Positioning
Always place Gwen in the second attacking slot (from the left). The Hallowed mechanic buffs the first attacker, but Gwen's innate ability also absorbs stats. Placing her second ensures she receives the maximum possible stat amplification from the Ghastly Bands striking first.
- Patience and Passing
Gwen is highly susceptible to fast-speed removal spells. When deploying her, it is often optimal to pass the turn and allow the opponent to spend their mana first. Dropping her onto the board when the opponent has exhausted their resources guarantees she can attack safely.
- Navigating Stuns and Recalls
Adventures featuring heavy stun or recall mechanics (such as the Yasuo encounter) severely counter Gwen's strategy. These effects neutralize her ephemeral Ghastly Bands before they can strike, denying her Hallowed scaling. Prioritize drafting spellshield or control tools when facing these regions.
- Maximizing Nexus Health
Gwen functions as a premier healing engine. Even if lethal damage is available on the board, it is often strategically correct to attack with Gwen to fully restore the Nexus health before ending the encounter, ensuring maximum safety for subsequent battles.
- Drafting Support Champions
Selecting low-cost support champions (e.g., 1-cost) restricts the item pool to effect-only items, increasing the probability of finding highly synergistic upgrades for Gwen's deck, most notably Shadow Totem to summon an additional copy of Gwen.
