Rare Relics OK
Jax is a highly aggressive champion who excels at clearing early-to-mid difficulty encounters rapidly. However, his linear playstyle and reliance on equipment can feel repetitive, and he struggles to maintain dominance in the highest-difficulty Nightmare adventures.
Aggressive Weaponmaster
Provides Overwhelm and bonus stats to all Weaponmaster units in the deck.
Guarantees a Rally upon Jax's level-up, enabling immediate game-ending attacks.
Continuously forges Jax's weapon to scale his stats and provides a burst-speed barrier.
Strategy
This build maximizes Jax's aggressive potential. The Beast Within is highly effective because Jax's deck is primarily composed of units with the Weaponmaster subtype, granting them all a permanent stat boost and Overwhelm. Crownguard Inheritance is a core component, allowing Jax to attack, level up, and immediately attack again to close out the game. Players disagree about Living Weapon; some consider its continuous forging and burst barrier essential for scaling Jax into a massive threat and transferring those stats if he is removed, while others find it too slow for his ideal fast-paced game plan.
Single-Threat Scaling
Grants massive keyword benefits once Jax's power is augmented.
Provides fleeting copies of Jax to use as champion spells.
Ensures the spell mana required to cast Jax's champion spells every round.
Strategy
This alternative approach focuses on building Jax into an unstoppable, singular threat. The Grand General's Counterplan generates a fleeting copy of Jax each round, which can be cast as a champion spell to control the board or buff allies. Archangel's Staff provides the necessary spell mana to sustain this loop. As Jax's stats increase through forging and spell casts, Chosen by the Stars activates, granting him Regeneration, Overwhelm, and Challenger to dominate combat.
Accessible Challenger
Provides a crucial Rally effect when Jax levels up.
Grants Challenger to all allies, allowing Jax to dictate favorable trades.
Ensures that excess damage from Jax's high-power attacks pushes through to the enemy Nexus.
Strategy
A highly effective setup for newer accounts using only Rare relics. Laurent Bladerack is exceptional for board control, allowing Jax and his equipped allies to pull vulnerable enemy units and protect smaller allied units. Crownguard Inheritance provides the standard Rally on level-up for burst damage, and Troll King's Crown acts as an accessible substitute for The Beast Within, ensuring that high-attack units can push damage through blockers.
Other Relic Options
Excellent for specific adventure modifiers that deal continuous small damage, allowing Jax to scale his stats rapidly.
Provides consistent scaling and keyword generation over longer encounters, making it a strong option for extended battles.
Constellation
Jax is a formidable champion at his baseline 3-star level, capable of executing rapid victories in standard adventures. However, his power level plateaus in the late-game of Nightmare difficulty adventures, requiring further constellation investment to keep pace with inflated enemy stats.

Last Light of Icathia
Allies have "Attack: Grant me +1|+0. If I am equipped, also grant my equipment +1|+0."
Relentless Assault
+1 Starting Mana. When an equipped ally dies, draw 1.
Last Light of Icathia II
Allies have "Attack: Grant me +1|+1. If I am equipped, also grant my equipment +2|+0."Review
This power provides a significant offensive boost, but it strictly applies to 'equipment' and does not grant the bonus stats to units utilizing 'attach' cards.
Gameplay Tips
- Manage Equipment Draw
Jax's deck features a mechanic that draws a card when an equipped ally is defeated. Carefully manage the number of weapon-generating cards added during an adventure to prevent clogging the hand with unplayable equipment.
- Ephemeral Copy Interactions
Equipment in Legends of Runeterra is unique. If an effect creates an Ephemeral copy of Jax upon summoning, the copy will take the weapon, leaving the original Jax unequipped. This prevents the original from contributing to his level-up condition.
- Vulnerability to Direct Damage
Despite the health buffs provided by equipment, Jax's base health is relatively low. He remains highly susceptible to direct damage spells and pings from the opponent, requiring careful timing when deploying him against removal-heavy regions.
- Attachment Anti-Synergy
Units can only hold one equipment or attachment at a time. Playing an attach unit onto Jax will automatically unequip his signature weapon, disrupting his core synergies.
