Jhin is widely considered one of the strongest champions in the game, capable of clearing the most difficult content (including 6.5-star adventures) with ease. His playstyle is explosive and control-heavy, often ending games the moment he hits the board. While extremely effective, some players find his optimal strategies repetitive or 'boring' due to how trivial they make encounters.
The Curtain Call (Gatebreaker Burst)
  • The Curator's Gatebreaker icon
Crucial for this build. When Jhin is summoned, he strikes the Nexus. This damage triggers Plunder immediately, which is required to activate Riptide Battery's effect.
  • Riptide Battery icon
Upon play (with Plunder active), this puts multiple cannon barrage skills on the stack. These skills deal damage, stun enemies via Jhin's Origin, and rapidly level him up.
  • Riptide Battery icon
A second copy adds even more skills to the stack, often resulting in a full board wipe and massive Nexus damage immediately upon playing Jhin.

Strategy

This is the standard 'drop and win' build. Crucial: You must equip Gatebreaker in a slot above Riptide Battery so the strike happens first to trigger Plunder. This build fills the spell stack instantly, preventing the AI from responding with fast spells. It can often end games on Turn 2 or 3.
Jhinfinite Control
  • Chemtech Duplicator icon
Doubles all played spells once you reach 6 mana. This allows Jhin to generate infinite copies of 'Captive Audience' and 'Lotus Trap' if you have the mana and targets.
  • Frozen Tomb icon
Summons a Frozen Tomb that revives Jhin after 2 rounds. This ensures you have a Jhin on board or a way to get a second Jhin to trigger skill loops.
  • Guardian Angel icon
Provides an extra revive. Combined with the other relics, this ensures Jhin stays on the board to maintain the infinite control loop.

Strategy

This build is slower but guarantees a win through permanent crowd control. By reaching 6 mana with Chemtech active, you can continuously stun the enemy board and burn the Nexus. It is excellent for adventures that require sustainability over burst speed.
C6 Perfection (Overwhelm)
  • Cease and Desist icon
Jhin easily reaches the attack threshold to trigger this. It provides a free attack and a stun, which synergizes perfectly with his 6-star power.
  • Chosen by the Stars icon
Grants Overwhelm. With Jhin's 6-star power dealing quadruple damage to stunned enemies, Overwhelm allows that massive excess damage to spill over to the Nexus.
  • Riptide Battery icon
Provides the necessary skills to stun enemies before Jhin attacks, setting up the quadruple damage multiplier.

Strategy

This build leverages Jhin's 6-star constellation power (quadruple damage to stunned units). By giving him Overwhelm and forcing him to hit stunned targets (via Cease and Desist or Challenger), you can one-shot the enemy Nexus through a blocker.
Other Relic Options
  • Deck of Destiny icon
A strong option that grants stats and generates skills (Destiny Cards) which advance Jhin's level-up and control gameplan.
  • Luden's Tempest icon
Increases damage of all skills and spells by 1. A solid alternative if you lack a second Riptide Battery.
  • Shock & Awe icon
Dealing damage to the Nexus when played adds to the burst potential, though generally less effective than Riptide.
  • Whisper icon
Jhin's signature relic. It is widely considered a 'trap' or underwhelming compared to standard Rare relics like Riptide Battery, as the damage bonus is conditional and often redundant.
Constellation
Jhin is a complete package even at 3 stars. His 4th and 5th stars provide significant consistency and speed, particularly the Manaflow at 5 stars which enables Turn 2 plays. He does not strictly need his higher stars to beat end-game content, but they make runs significantly faster.

    Review
Explosive Finale adds significant burn damage and board control, making it easier to clear boards just by playing skills.

    Review
Manaflow (+1 Starting Mana) is a massive upgrade for Jhin, allowing him to drop on Turn 2 in most adventures. This consistency is vital for Nightmare difficulties.

Your Skills and Spells deal 2 extra damage. Stunned enemies take quadruple damage.
    Review
Perfection causes skills to deal +2 damage and deal quadruple damage to stunned enemies. This turns Jhin into an absolute monster who can one-shot high-health units and the Nexus (with Overwhelm). While powerful, some players find it makes gameplay too linear or boring.
Gameplay Tips
Relic Order is Critical
When using the Gatebreaker + Riptide Battery combo, you must place The Curator's Gatebreaker in a slot above Riptide Battery. Relics trigger from top to bottom; Gatebreaker must strike the Nexus first to activate Plunder, which then allows Riptide Battery to trigger its effect.
The Plunder Bug
In adventures where there is a global 'Plunder' power active (e.g., specific mutators or encounters), Riptide Battery may fail to trigger correctly off Gatebreaker. In these specific scenarios, try to trigger Plunder manually (e.g., with a spell) before playing Jhin.
Filling the Stack
Jhin's skills from Riptide Battery fill the spell stack (max 9 items). This is strategically powerful as it can prevent the AI from casting Fast or Slow spells in response to your play, effectively silencing them for the turn.
Drafting Struggles
Jhin's deck relies heavily on Skills and Spells. In draft phases, avoid units that do not have skills or synergy with his Origin, as they will dilute your deck and make it harder to trigger his passive stun/damage effects.
Quadruple Overwhelm
If you have Jhin's 6-star power, prioritize Overwhelm. When Jhin strikes a stunned unit, the damage is quadrupled. If the unit dies, the massive excess damage carries over to the Nexus, often resulting in a One-Turn Kill (OTK).
