Rare Relics OK
Low Investment
Kindred possesses incredibly powerful control loops, but players disagree about her base mechanics. Some consider her revive strategies highly effective, while others find her Prey mechanic clunky, slow, and counter-intuitive to her theme.
Infinite Strike Control
Game Start: Create 7 copies of me in your deck. Champion Spells cost 1 less.
Start adventures with +1 Revive. Last Breath: If it's the first time I've been slain this game, revive me with 1 Health.
When I'm summoned, I strike the weakest enemy.
Strategy
This build maximizes Kindred's board control by leveraging her champion spell, Spirit Journey. By casting the spell on Kindred, she is destroyed and immediately revived by Guardian Angel. This triggers Stalker's Blade to strike an enemy, which counts toward her level-up condition if the target is marked. Echoing Spirit ensures a consistent draw of Kindred and provides discounted copies of her champion spell to maintain the loop.
Item Generation Engine
Start adventures with +1 Revive. Last Breath: If it's the first time I've been slain this game, revive me with 1 Health.
When I'm summoned, grant Epic items to 3 random cards in your deck.
When I'm summoned, grant Epic items to 3 random cards in your deck.
Strategy
Focusing on long-term scaling, this setup replaces strike effects with Guardian's Orb. Repeatedly destroying and reviving Kindred with her champion spell triggers multiple Guardian's Orb activations, rapidly distributing Epic items throughout the deck. This approach is highly effective for grinding down high-health encounters where direct strikes are insufficient.
Stun Lockdown
Start adventures with +1 Revive. Last Breath: If it's the first time I've been slain this game, revive me with 1 Health.
When I'm summoned, Stun the strongest enemy.
When I'm summoned, Stun the strongest enemy.
Strategy
Utilizing only Common and Rare relics, this build provides absolute board control against massive enemy units. By reviving Kindred, Everfrost repeatedly stuns the most threatening enemies. This is particularly useful in Nightmare adventures where enemy statistics are too high for Stalker's Blade to secure kills.
Puffcap Pressure
Spellshield. When I deal damage, plant that many Poison Puffcaps in the enemy deck.
Start adventures with +1 Revive. Last Breath: If it's the first time I've been slain this game, revive me with 1 Health.
When I'm summoned, I strike the weakest enemy.
Strategy
This build introduces an alternative win condition to compensate for Kindred's slow scaling. Mischiefmaker's Flute triggers whenever Kindred deals damage. By reviving her and triggering Stalker's Blade, she deals direct damage that plants significant amounts of puffcaps in the enemy deck, providing consistent chip damage to close out games.
Other Relic Options
Support: Kill my supported ally and grant me its keyword and stats.
Round Start: Create a Fleeting copy of me in hand.
Corrupted Star Fragment provides essential sustain and stat scaling by consuming Prey units or other disposable allies. The Grand General's Counterplan guarantees a steady supply of Spirit Journey spells to maintain revive loops if Echoing Spirit is unavailable.
Constellation
Players disagree about Kindred's overall constellation design. Some consider her control tools highly effective, while others find her reliance on the Prey mechanic clunky and restrictive due to board space limitations.

Ashes to Ashes
Round Start: Summon a Prey. If you already have one, instead, grant your Prey "Last Breath: Deal 1 to the enemy Nexus".Review
The initial Prey generation is considered low-impact. The burn damage is too slow for difficult encounters, making the units better suited as sacrifice fodder.
Circle of Death
+1 Starting Mana. Round Start: Create a Spirit Journey in hand. If you already have one, reduce its cost by 2.Review
This is the cornerstone of Kindred's strategy. Providing Spirit Journey allows for the critical self-destruction and revival loops that define her optimal playstyle.
Ashes to Ashes II
Round Start: Summon a Prey. If you already have one, instead, grant your Prey "Last Breath: Deal 2 to the enemy Nexus".Review
Widely considered an underwhelming upgrade. The incremental damage increase on Prey units does not resolve the core issue of board clutter, making this a low-priority investment.
Gameplay Tips
- Sacrifice Prey Units
Do not hoard Prey units for their passive damage. Utilize them as free blockers or as sacrifice targets for spells like Crumble to maintain board control.
- The Revival Loop
Cast Kindred's champion spell, Spirit Journey, directly on Kindred when equipped with Guardian Angel. This destroys and immediately revives her, triggering all on-summon relic effects without permanently losing the champion.
- Avoid Trifarian Might
Never draft the Trifarian Might power. It forces Kindred to strike and potentially kill units immediately upon entering the board, which breaks her level-up condition since she must observe the marked unit dying.
- Manage Board Space
Be highly mindful of your bench. Prey units can quickly fill available slots, preventing you from playing more impactful units or summoning additional copies of Kindred.
- Exploit the Switcheroo Adventure
Kindred is exceptionally strong in the Switcheroo weekly adventure. Her star powers actively hinder the AI when it is forced to pilot her deck, making the encounter significantly easier.
