Epic Relics
Paid Relics
Mordekaiser is a polarizing champion. While capable of powerful 'infinite' combos and massive value engines, he suffers from a slow early game, board space issues, and a reliance on specific Epic relics to function smoothly. Once established, he is nearly unstoppable, but getting there requires significant investment.
The Iron Revenant
Essential for accelerating Mordekaiser's high mana cost. His base stats and Titanic status allow you to start with an extra mana gem.
The engine of the deck. It reduces Mordekaiser's cost by slaying your own units, which immediately triggers his revive mechanics and powers up his stats.
Solves board space issues by consuming allies, transferring their stats and keywords to Mordekaiser, and triggering their Last Breath or revive effects.
Strategy
This build focuses on ramping out Mordekaiser as early as turn 1 or 2. Use your early units as fodder for Disciple of Shadows. Once Mordekaiser is down, use Corrupted Star Fragment to eat your own units—this clears board space, grows Mordekaiser to massive proportions, and cycles your revive effects.
Infinite Recursion
When Mordekaiser dies, he revives with 1 health. If he has Deathless, this creates multiple layers of revival, often resulting in multiple Mordekaisers on board.
Provides the necessary mana reduction and slay triggers to start the loop.
Grants Evolve and collects keywords from units that die, turning Mordekaiser into a keyword-soup monstrosity.
Strategy
This setup aims to print multiple copies of Mordekaiser. By combining Guardian Angel with his innate Deathless mechanics and self-slay effects, you can make him virtually impossible to remove permanently. It is particularly effective for grinding out long control matchups.
Slay and Sustain
The most important Rare relic. It triggers slays, manages board space, and scales Mordekaiser's stats.
Since Mordekaiser often levels up immediately upon being played (due to pre-play slay requirements), this grants a 0-cost Realm of Death for immediate removal and revival.
Triggers a strike on summon, helping to stabilize the board immediately against aggressive enemies.
Strategy
A viable setup for players without Epic relics. Focus on surviving the early turns until you can drop Mordekaiser. The Deceiver's Crest provides a powerful swing turn by allowing you to remove an enemy threat and revive two of your own units for free.
Other Relic Options
A fun alternative that generates high-cost units from allied regions. Synergizes with Mordekaiser's high cost to reduce the generated units significantly.
A slower safety net that ensures Mordekaiser eventually hits the board even if you lack mana, though generally outclassed by Disciple of Shadows.
Provides consistency by shuffling copies into the deck, useful for finding him and his champion spell repeatedly.
Constellation
Mordekaiser's constellation upgrades are heavily focused on mitigating his slow start and rewarding his slay synergy. Without them, he can feel clunky and vulnerable to early aggression. Players generally agree that he feels incomplete without at least 3 stars.

Twice Slain
Round Start: If you have the attack token, create a 2 cost Indestructible in hand or if you have one, reduce its cost by 1.
Thrice Born
+1 Starting Mana. When you revive an ally, grant it +2|+0 and Overwhelm.
Twice Slain II
Round Start: Create a 2 cost Indestructible in hand or if you have one, reduce its cost by 1.Review
Considered somewhat underwhelming by the community compared to other 3-star powers, often feeling like a minor upgrade rather than a game-changer.
Gameplay Tips
-
Cut the 1-Drop: The 1-cost unit in Mordekaiser's starting deck is widely considered detrimental. It clutters your hand and offers poor synergy. Prioritize cutting it at a healer node to improve deck consistency.
-
Manage Board Space: Mordekaiser's biggest enemy is often his own board. Because he revives units constantly, your board will fill up rapidly, preventing you from playing new cards. Use relics like Corrupted Star Fragment to consume units and free up slots.
-
Disciple of Shadows Interaction: This relic is critical. It deals damage to all allies before Mordekaiser is fully summoned. This counts as slaying them, which grants mana reduction and immediately queues them for revival once Mordekaiser hits the board.
-
Deathless Mechanics: Remember that units revived via Deathless return with 1 HP (unless they have other buffs). They lose temporary buffs but keep permanent stat growth from items. Prioritize permanent stat boosts over temporary combat tricks.
-
Leveling Pain: Mordekaiser is notoriously difficult to level up from 1-30 due to his slow speed. It is highly recommended to level him in adventures with modifiers that help high-cost champions, such as the Volibear/Titan adventures.
