Excellent (8/10)
Low Investment
Rare Relics OK
Volibear is widely considered one of the most fun 'Timmy' style champions, excelling at slamming down massive units to clear the board. He is very strong at 3 stars, making him a fantastic low-investment option. However, his higher constellation upgrades (specifically 4-star and 6-star) receive mixed to negative reception for being low-impact or 'win-more'.
Titanic Acceleration
  • Starforged Gauntlets icon
Essential for the +1 Starting Mana, allowing you to drop Volibear and other Titanic units a turn earlier. Volibear naturally meets the Titanic requirement.
  • Portal Pals icon
When Volibear is played, this generates two high-cost units from random regions with their cost reduced. This synergizes perfectly with his game plan of flooding the board with large threats.
  • Disciple of Shadows icon
Deals 3 damage to all allies on play. This triggers Volibear's star power (generating Sigils for every unit slain) and refunds mana, often allowing you to play him immediately if you have a wide board of cheap units.

Strategy

This build focuses on ramping out Volibear as fast as possible. Use Disciple of Shadows to slay your own small units, generating Sigils of the Storm to discount Volibear while refunding mana to play him. Starforged Gauntlets provides the initial mana boost.
Oath of Judgment
  • Oath of the Guardians icon
Shuffles level 2 champions into your deck and doubles their stats. These champions count as Titanic, fueling Volibear's synergies.
  • Scales of Judgment icon
When a champion is played, it strikes the enemy with the highest power. This turns every champion drawn by Oath into a removal spell.
  • Starforged Gauntlets icon
Provides the necessary mana ramp to play your expensive champions sooner.

Strategy

A highly synergistic build that turns your deck into a powerhouse of massive champions. Oath creates the threats, and Scales ensures they impact the board immediately upon summoning.
Rare Strike
  • Stalker's Blade icon
Strikes an enemy on summon. Helps clear the board and level Volibear.
  • Stalker's Blade icon
A second copy ensures Volibear clears two units, or strikes the Nexus/same unit if the first target dies.
  • The Curator's Gatebreaker icon
Strikes the enemy Nexus on summon. With Volibear's high stats, this deals significant damage immediately.

Strategy

A strong option for players without Epic relics. This build relies on Volibear's high stats to decimate the enemy board and Nexus the moment he enters play.
Other Relic Options
  • Icon of Valhir icon
Volibear's signature relic. It is considered situational; while the elemental damage boost is nice for Avalanche, many experts find mana ramp or unit generation more consistent.
  • Found Fortune icon
Draws a card and gives it an item on play. Useful for finding more Titanic units in your deck.
  • Cease and Desist icon
Can enable fast wins by striking the Nexus if the enemy board is clear or via Challenge, though reports suggest it can be buggy with Sigil interactions on full boards.
  • The Beast Within icon
Grants Overwhelm to allies. Useful if you want to push damage before Volibear levels up (as he gains Overwhelm naturally at Level 2).
Constellation
Volibear is a powerhouse at 3 stars and does not require deep constellation investment to clear hard content. His 5-star Manaflow is his most valuable high-tier upgrade.

    Sky Splitter

+1 Starting Mana. When you summon a Titanic ally, it strikes the weakest enemy.

  • Icon for In My Sights

    In My Sights

Round Start: Grant the weakest enemy Vulnerable.
    Review
Widely criticized as one of the worst 4-star powers. It grants Vulnerable to the strongest enemy, which is often redundant because your Titanic units are usually large enough to kill enemies without needing Vulnerable. It actively offers little strategic value.
  • Icon for Manaflow

    Manaflow

Game Start: Get a mana gem.
    Review
Manaflow (+1 Starting Mana). A standard but highly effective upgrade for a high-cost champion, reducing reliance on Starforged Gauntlets.
  • Icon for Doom of All

    Doom of All

When you summon a Titanic ally, grant it +2|+2 for each stack of Sigil of the Storm.
    Review
Mixed reception. It grants stats to units based on Sigils consumed. While stat sticks are good, many players feel it is 'win-more' and lacks the transformative power of other 6-star upgrades. There are also reports of anti-synergy with strike relics triggering before the stat buff applies.
Gameplay Tips
Slay Your Own Units
Volibear's star power generates Sigils of the Storm whenever any unit dies, including your own. Don't be afraid to use Avalanche or Disciple of Shadows to wipe your own board of small units; this generates mana discounts for your Titanic units.
Manage Board Space
Sigils of the Storm take up board space. If your board is full of units and sigils. Be mindful of this cap, especially when using relics that generate multiple units.
Drafting Strategy
Prioritize drafting Titanic units (8+ Attack or Health) to maximize cost reductions. Avoid drafting too many low-cost units unless they provide utility like Frostbite or ramp, as they dilute your Titanic synergy.
The Sigil Math
Remember that Sigils stack. A single stack reduces the cost of the next Titanic unit by 1. Killing a unit with a spell adds to the stack. Plan your removal to maximize discounts before your turn to drop a big threat.
